The Making of a
Horse Hair Pot

I have just pulled this pot out of the kiln at about 1061 degrees.  I begin by placing newspaper inside the pot.  It catches on fire and smokes the inside of the pot black.  I then start laying horse hair onto the pot.  It burns dark lines onto the pot and the smoke from the burning hair creates the shadowing.  The pot cools off very quickly.  At the end, I use the torch to burn on any loose ends of hair that were missed.

Huge Thank You! to Suzy Gardner (Dream Follower Jewelry) for taking the video.
